Mealime is shutting down. Here is how to save your recipes

Mealime closes on 21 October 2026 and deletes all personal data, which means your saved recipe list. There is no export button. Here is how to get your recipes out before then.

Mealime is shutting down. Here is how to save your recipes

Mealime is shutting down. The announcement on their site is short: "Mealime will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026." It also says something easy to skim past, and it is the part that matters if you have spent years saving recipes there.

"All personal data will be deleted when the Mealime application is shut down."

That is your saved list. Every recipe you picked, every one you cooked twice and kept, the whole record of what you liked. It goes on 21 October.

What you are actually losing

Mealime says the recipes themselves survive: they are moving to Meals Hub, run by Albertsons, the US supermarket chain that bought Mealime in 2021. Mealime is careful to say you can still browse recipes and build plans there even if you cannot shop at an Albertsons store. The catch is that Meals Hub lives inside Albertsons' own grocery apps, Safeway and Vons and Jewel-Osco, which are US only. And the part Mealime users rate highest, shopping your list item by item on the store's site, only works at their stores.

So the recipe text may live on somewhere you cannot practically reach. What is definitely going is the part you made: the selection. That is the thing worth rescuing, and it is the thing no one can rebuild for you.

There is no export button

We looked. Mealime has never offered an export, and they have not added one on the way out. There is no download, no CSV, no email-me-my-recipes link.

What they do have is public recipe pages. Every Mealime recipe sits at a normal web address, and those pages carry the full recipe: ingredients, method, servings, cook time, the photo. That is enough to work with.

Getting your recipes out, step by step

This is manual, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It takes about a minute for the first one and a few seconds each after that.

  1. Open your saved recipes in Mealime. In the app, or at mealime.com if you prefer a bigger screen. You want the list of recipes you have actually saved, not the browse tab.
  2. Copy the link for each one. Open a recipe and copy its web address, either from the share option in the app or straight out of your browser's address bar. A Mealime recipe link looks like mealime.com/recipes/some-recipe-name/123.
  3. Paste them somewhere you can collect them. Notes, a message to yourself, anywhere. One per line. Do not worry about tidying them up.
  4. Bring the whole list over at once. Paste them into the rescue page and they get read in properly, with ingredients, method and photos intact.

You do not need an account to start. Paste the links, watch them come in, and make an account at the end if you want to keep them. If a link does not work, you will be told which one and why, rather than being left guessing.

Do it before the 21st

The recipe pages might stay up after Mealime closes. Nobody has said either way. But your saved list will not, and once it is gone there is no way to reconstruct which recipes were yours.

If you only do one thing this week, copy the links out. Even into a notes app. You can decide where they live later.

Where they land, if you bring them here

slrp is a recipe organiser for couples who cook together. Paste a link from anywhere, not just Mealime, and it becomes a proper recipe in your library. Both of you see the same recipes, the same meal plan and the same grocery list, so the plan is not stuck on one person's phone.

It is free to start, and there is no time limit on the rescue. But there is a time limit on Mealime.
